This year's Westpoint Regatta did not disappoint with wind in the mid 20's in the central bay near Angel Island and Alcatraz, a more moderate section down the Peninsula to catch our breaths, and a final run to the finish with winds in the high teens south of the San Mateo bridge. With a more southerly than usual wind direction this year, most boats power-reached after rounding Alcatraz and delayed launching spinnakers until after the Bay Bridge. All in all, another perfect day for a great race. The SFYC Multihull Regatta is next in our July double header. |
