San Diego Sat., San Francisco Sun.

Warm, sunny skies and an uncharacteristically light north wind greeted the teams at the Elvstrom Zellerbach Regatta this past Sat. As all boats congregated close to the RC boat, while watching an unusual upwind Great Vallejo Race get under way, the customary westerly eventually filled in. Moderate winds on Sat served as a warm-up for the main event the next day. On Sun, San Francisco Bay made a welcome return to form with the usual westerly winds in the high teens. A nice ebb against the wind placed a premium on boathandling, and an early flood along the city front shore provided interesting tactical decisions. A fun time was had by all teams with varied and close racing, as 4 different boats took the lead spot around the windward mark in races over the course of the weekend. Death and destruction await next in the Delta Ditch.
