Saturday Racing Workout, April 2

Although Rich was left stuck in Eureka because of a Highway 1 closure and Frank had trailer problems, we still managed to get 4 boats on the water last Saturday.  Thanks to Michael Butler, who came down from Ft. Bragg and was able to log some serious hours on the water between Friday and Sunday, and also to Mark Lewis, who drove down from the hllls for a couple days, and also to Jeremy Leonard from Surf City Racing, who was able to get some footage on the committee boat, and to Phillip Meredith, who supplied the committee boat and marks and general organization!

We managed to get some solid breeze in the mid-teens to power us through more laps around the course than anyone cared to count before it died quickly in the late afternoon.  With marks dropped to set a short course, the practice rewarded good boat handling and fast, clean maneuvers.  With the "finishing" order getting shuffled after each leeward rounding as the fleet ducked the boat bringing up the rear, the fleet was kept together, and everyone stayed busy.  We've found this to be a great way to get the maneuvers dialed in, and hope to do this again not too long from now.  Stay tuned.
