Year-End Racing

There are a number of events on the F18 Western Area and Hobie Division 3 calendars between now and the new year, but nothing really local except for Hobie's Turkey in Monterey Regatta on Oct. 23-24.

However, there are a some local events that we could potentially enter as a class (with sufficient numbers) or on handicap:

• Fall Dinghy and Olympic Classes Regatta at St. Francis — Fun cityfront racing, but it conflicts with the Monterey turkeyfest, so we may not meet the quota for a class start.

• Great Pumpkin — On Halloween.  The Pumpkin is a huge invitational that Richmond puts on every year, mostly for keelboats. However, they do invite multihulls to join in Sunday's race, which is a handicap sprint around Angel Island and Alcatraz. This race would probably be a blast in F18s.

• Turkey Shoot Regatta — Lake Washington on Nov. 6. (What is it with all the turkey regattas???) Convenient for Sacaramento people.

• Richmond 2011 Midwinters #1 — Dec. 5. Work on your light air skills… Numbers 2, 3, and 4 to follow in Jan., Feb., and March.

Something to think about.
